Overview
Johnstone's Woodcare Outdoor Yacht Varnish is a marine quality wood varnish that can be used on bare as well as previously stained or varnished wood. It provides the surface with a durable shield to resist cracking and peeling and protect it from the elements. The varnish will flex with the wood's natural movement. It's easy to apply and the end result is a professional, high gloss finish.

Preparation
When varnishing exterior wood, preparation is key, so before you start, make sure that all the timber to be varnished is clean, dry and free from dust, grease, polish or anything other contaminant.
- Remove any flaking or crazed varnish and fill any cracks or joints with a suitable Wood Filler.
- Apply a coat of wood preserver to any softwood that has not been previously pre-treated. Softwood which has not already been pre-treated.
- Lightly sand down any existing varnish with fine waterproof paper and rinse thoroughly.
- Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding.
Application
We always recommend preforming a test patch to ensure compatibility, ensure to also follow the instructions found on the packaging.
- Stir well before use
- Evenly apply at least two coats, using a brush along the grain of the wood. It's important that you pay close attention to the end grain to get the most from your varnish.
- Sand down lightly between each coat
